Meet Your Guide:

Suzanne Reisman

Suzanne Reisman specializes in unique, unusual tours of New York City. If you want to delve into the New York City that's off the beaten (subway) track, she literally wrote a book about it.* She is a proudly foul-mouthed flaneuse** who loves exploring in New York City. Although Suzanne spent her formative years in the Chicago suburbs, she currently lives in Manhattan with her husband, her teddy bear, and the ghost of her 13 lb. pet rabbit. Unwilling to fully abandon her roots, she insists on calling soda “pop,” and sneakers “gym shoes.” A recovered Cubs fan, she now roots for the New York Mets. She is curious, enthusiastic, and funny, and would be thrilled to show you around her adopted home of 30+ years.

With an MFA in Creative Nonfiction from The New School, a Masters in Public Administration from Columbia University, and a Bachelors Degree from New York University, Suzanne brings a wealth of education to her tours. More importantly, she is a NYC licensed tour guide and is also a graduate of the New York City Rat Academy, New York City Sanitation Foundation Trash Academy, and member of the NYC Rat Pack ("New York’s elite squad of dedicated anti-rat activists"). When not leading tours, Suzanne is a writer,* novelist, voracious reader, and avid runner.

Join Suzanne to learn about saints, garbage, disease, rats, weird history, murders, corruption, anarchy, and NYC at sunrise. She is happy to customize tours to meet accessibility needs. Suzanne can also create custom tours to satisfy special interests (as long as they are legal).
